Updates and Information Regarding COVID-19 / Coronavirus
This page has been set up to provide updates related to the Office of Research Integrity Assurance (ORIA) in response to COVID-19.
Last Updated: June 15, 2020
June 15, 2020 IRB Update: The Office of Research Integrity Assurance has issued Georgia Tech Human Subjects Reserach IRB Guidance for Non-Essential In-Person Restart of Research. This information can be found here: https://oria.gatech.edu/irb/important-news-and-updates.
Operation Status for the Office of Research Integrity Assurance:
Processes have been put in place for Georgia Tech's Office of Research Integrity Assurance (ORIA) research associates and other supporting staff to carry out critical Research Administration functions while working remotely.
As directed by President Cabrera, telework began during the week of March 16, 2020. You may continue to contact ORIA staff members by phone using their regular phone numbers or by e-mail. IRBWise, TopazElements, and eCoI will continue to be available. (Note: See information below about a scheduled interruption for IRBWise related to OneUSG implementation.)
Please note that it is more important than ever to give the associates sufficient time to review your protocols and requests. At the current time, the Central IRB, CABI IRB, IACUC, Biosafety Committee, and Conflict of Interest Committee will convene scheduled meetings in person or virtually, as appropriate.
For researchers engaged in human subjects research, we encourage you to review your projects and consider contingency planning for possible constraints on the ability of subjects to participate.
Researchers who use vertebrate animal models should consult with the PRL Leadership team (Director of Animal Program & Facilities, Director of Medicine & Research/Attending Veterinarian, Clinical Veterinarian, and Animal Facilities Managers), to develop plans for continuity of research in the event you, your research staff, or your students cannot be present to carry out the activities specified in your protocol. Contact IACUC staff as soon as possible if a protocol amendment is needed.
